Katarina Vasiljević was born in Belgrade, Serbia, in 2004.
She completed her master’s studies at the Faculty of Music of the University of Arts in Belgrade, where she studied under Professor Madlen Stokić Vasiljević. At the same time, she is pursuing a master’s degree at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Lyon, where she studies under Professor Marianne Piketty.
She has been named laureate at numerous national and international violin competitions in Serbia and abroad, including the National Competition for Students of Music and Ballet Schools of Serbia; Stringfest, where she was named laureate and received the Best Young Performer Award; Talents for Europe in Slovakia; Premio Clivis in Rome; the Alexander Glazunov Competition in Paris; and the Joy of Music Competition, where she was named laureate and received the Jelena Lela Abramović Award for her performance of a sonata by Franz Schubert.
She received the Milorad and Zagorka Apostolović Award and the Marija Petrović and Janko Ristić Award, presented by the Mokranjac Music School for the finest interpretation and best student in the String Department during primary and secondary music education.
During her university studies, she received the Faculty of Music’s Miodrag Mačić Mišo Fund Award as the best violin student of the 2021–2022 academic year, as well as the Mary Žeželj Mayer Award as the best student in the String Department for the 2022–2023 academic year. In 2025, she was named the top student of her graduating class.
She has given recitals and performed as an orchestral soloist at international music festivals in Belgrade, Niš, Prague, Munich, Paris, Lyon, Narni, Moscow, Sorrento, Trieste, Zagreb, Poreč, Grožnjan and other cities.
As an orchestral soloist, she has appeared in prestigious concert halls including the Kolarac Endowment, the Army Hall in Belgrade, St George’s Hall in the Kremlin and the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall in Zagreb.
She has performed with the Mokranjac Music School Symphony Orchestra, the Faculty of Music Orchestra, the RTS Symphony Orchestra, the CEMAN Orchestra of the Central European Music Academies Network, the Stanislav Binički Artistic Ensemble of the Serbian Ministry of Defence, the Metamorphosis Ensemble and the S.C.S. Sorrento Sinfonietta Chamber Orchestra.
In 2017, she represented RTS Music Production at a gala concert with the Presidential Orchestra of the Russian Federation in St George’s Hall at the Kremlin. The concert was held as part of the international Melody of Generations festival and broadcast by Russian state television.
In 2025, she appeared as a soloist with the international CEMAN Orchestra on its Youth for Youth – The Young Mozart tour of Croatia and Italy. The tour was organised by the Giuseppe Tartini Conservatory in Trieste, the Faculty of Music in Belgrade and other higher music education institutions from the region.
In May 2022, the prestigious music magazine The Strad published an interview with the young violinist.
She is a member of the Double Sens string chamber orchestra, under the artistic direction of celebrated violinist Nemanja Radulović, as well as a member of the Association of Musical Artists of Serbia.
She is a scholarship recipient of the Fund for Young Talents of the Republic of Serbia, administered by the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation.
She has attended masterclasses led by distinguished professors and violinists including Dejan Mihailović, Nemanja Radulović, Jasna Maksimović and Yuri Zhislin.
Katarina Vasiljević performs on a violin made by the renowned luthier Nikola Vasić, generously entrusted to her through the kindness and support of the families of Dr Dušan Ristić and Iris Bjelica Vlajić.
